Not Every Problem Needs AI: Why Deterministic Systems Should Remain the Foundation of Automation
Today, almost every business problem is being reframed as an AI problem. But should it be? This article argues for an engineering-first approach: if a task can be solved with deterministic algorithms, workflows, or business rules, that should always be the preferred solution. AI should be reserved for problems that genuinely require language understanding or reasoning—not used as a default replacement for predictable software.
